Poe leads latest SWS survey, Roxas No. 2, Binay No. 3

Neophyte senator Grace Poe leads the latest survey on presidential preference conducted by the Social Weather Station earlier this month.

The SWS poll results, which were published late Sunday night on BusinessWorld, showed that Poe garnered 47 percent, up by 5 points from 42% last June.

Administration candidate Mar Roxas came in second at 39% while vice president Jejomar Binay, the former front-runner in surveys, is in third place with 35%.

Roxas, who served as Secretary of the Interior and Local Government until recently, posted an 18% increase, the highest jump in voters' preference.

Binay's numbers were statistically unchanged. He got 34% in June.

The outspoken mayor of Davao City, Rody Duterte, came in fourth with 16%, down by 4 points from 20% in June. Duterte has announced that he would not seek the presidency come 2016.

The others are senator Chiz Escudero (6%); senator Bongbong Marcos (5%); deposed president now Manila city mayor Erap Estrada (3%); senator Miriam Defensor Santiago (2%); and former senators Ping Lacson and Manny Villar, and senator Alan Peter Cayetano at 1%.

During the September 2-5 SWS survey, 1,200 respondents nationwide were asked to name a maximum of 3 presidentiables.
