Kidnapping: Foreigners abducted by armed men in Samal

Six foreigners were reportedly kidnapped by armed men Monday night from a tourist destination in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS).

According to a report aired on ABS-CBN's late night newscast "Bandila," the victims were checked-in at the Ocean View Resort in Barangay Ilihan when they were abducted around 10:30 p.m. on September 21.

The armed men were believed to be members of the Bangsamoro Army (BAMA), said to be a breakaway group from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the report said.

After they snatched the foreigners from a yacht club, the group allegedly headed for Pantukan town in Compostela Valley using a motorized bangka.

A separate report from a local TV newscast, which was posted on Facebook, identified the area where the incident took place as Barangay Camudmud.

At least 20 heavily armed men reportedly abducted three foreign nationals and a Filipina. Two foreigners were also wounded as they struggled against the kidnapping suspects, the report said.
