Eid'l Fitr: July 17, 2015 holiday declared for Feast of Ramadhan

Malacañang has declared Friday, July 17, 2015 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid'l Fitr or Feast of Ramadhan.

Proclamation No. 1070, which was signed by the President on July 6, states that "Republic Act 9177 declared Eid'l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan) as a regular holiday throughout the country."

The entire nation, it says, "should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr."

Declaration of the July 17 nationwide holiday in the Philippines is necessary "in order to bring the religious and culturall significance of Eid'l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness," the proclamation stated further.

With the announcement, families could plan a short vacation to take advantage of the three-day holiday.
