How to Apply: BFP FO1 qualifications, requirements

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) needs 1, 200 new Fire Officers 1 (FO1). Here are the qualifications and requirements if you wish to apply.

According to the BFP website, vacancies are open to all natural born Filipino citizens aged 21-30 years old and who are bachelor degree holders, board passers or Civil Service Commission (CSC) 2nd level eligible and should be physically and mentally fit.

Applicants should be at least 5'2" in height for females and 5'4" for males.

FO1 applicants who are holders of Professional Driver’s License with 2 and 3 restriction codes and National Certificate III in Driving issued by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will be prioritized. This is because the BFP wants to address the driver to firetruck ratio.

Submit to the Office of the Recruitment and Selection Section, BFP National Headquarters, Agham Road in Quezon City your application folder, which contains the following, not later than May 6, 2015:
  • Application letter indicating the position and item applying for;
  • Handwritten Personal Data Sheet (PDS) using black ballpen only. No sign pen;
  • Photocopy of authenticated Transcript of Records and College Diploma;
  • Photocopy of authenticated Certificate of Eligibility (CSC/PRC);
  • Photocopy of Certificate of Live Birth issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO);
  • Photocopy of Certificate of Marriage issued by the National Statistics Office (for married female applicants);
  • Photocopy of NBI Clearance: and
  • Photocopy of Certificates of Training (if any).

The ideal number of firefighters according to the ratio being practiced by the BFP is 1 fireman for every 2,000 population, which means that the BFP needs about 50,000 personnel, since as of this date, the country has an estimated 100 million population.

However, at present, the BFP is composed of 18,769 firefighters only, which has a shortfall of 31,231 personnel, the BFP added.
