Fake fireman arrested for stealing cellphones during mall fire

A fake fireman has been arrested Monday for allegedly stealing cellphones while the real ones were battling smoke at Victory Mall in Caloocan.


News5 reports that the suspect was caught in possession of assorted cellphones he allegedly stole from one of the stalls located at the third floor of the shopping mall.

The real firemen were reportedly conducting a mopping-up operation when they chanced upon the suspect, whose pockets turned out to be filled with various kinds of mobile phones.

Wearing a fire volunteer's uniform, the alleged thief insisted that he is a member of the Bureau of Fire Protection, according to the report.
