'Aswang caught eating two women' is fake, here's why

A fake story about an alleged aswang who was brutally beaten to death by townsmen after it has eaten two women is currently circulating online.

A clip about the alleged incident gained so much attention that it garnered over 4 million views before it was deleted.

The viral video was posted on Facebook last Thursday, May 15, by a certain Jennifer Seguero, who first claimed in her caption that the gruesome killing happened in the province of Davao del Norte in the Philippines.

We found out that the original video was taken in Cambodia some years ago. It was about a crazy man who murdered his wife and daughter using an ax.

The video that Seguero posted was spliced to remove the portion where the townsmen who punished the killer can be heard speaking their language.

Seguero took down the video at around 9 p.m. on Monday, May 18, after receiving a barrage of comments coming from bashers.

Prior to its deletion, a couple of blogs made up a fake story about the video and even lied by telling readers that the man was an aswang, a vampire-like witch ghoul in Filipino folklore.

Well it must be slow news day for those blogs or the owners are suffering from blogger's block. What a lame way to gain website traffic.
