2 Filipinos killed in Qatar road crash

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were among those killed in a deadly road crash after a minibus collided with a truck Wednesday in Qatar.

A Doha News report identified them as 37-year-old Ysrael Villamarin Cenina and Reymel Anonuevo Manalo, 22. The other fatalities were Ram Prasad Rajbandhi, 45, Girija Khanal, 22, both Nepalese.

The victims worked for IMCO Engineering, a construction company based in Doha. They were reportedly brought to Wakrah Hospital and declared dead due to head injuries.

At least four of their co-workers were injured. Two Nepalese were rushed to Hamad General Hospital in serious condition, while two Filipinos were already discharged after receiving treatment for minor injuries. Their full identities were not disclosed.

The report cited a statement by Philippine Ambassador Wilfredo Santos who said that the accident occured at 7:30 a.m. while the victims were on their way to work in Mesaieed on board their company's rented bus.
