US soldiers lose belongings to thieves during Balikatan

Four American soldiers participating in the ongoing Balikatan military exercises in the Philippines reportedly lost their belongings to thieves.

They were identified as Sgts. Scotty Wilson and Dwayne Massey and Lts. Patrick Tierney and Thomas Dunne, according to citing a police report.

It has been confirmed by the military police company (MPC) inside the 7th Infantry Division headquarters that the robbery incident took place at around 1 a.m. on April 9 at the Exercise Relation Construction (ERC) building of the Southern Command (SoCom).

Stolen by the thieves, who gained entry by digging a hole beneath a perimeter fence, were army boots, a wallet containing $2,000 and undetermined amount of Philippine money among other items.

Palayan police chief Supt. Leandro Novilla told the news outlet that the police report came in late because the military only informed them after conducting their own probe.

A police investigation is reportedly underway.
