Video captures hit and run in QC, sparks online debate

A video that captured a hit and run accident in Commonwealth Avenue corner Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City over the weekend sparked an online debate on who was at fault.

According to the Proud to Be One Barangay Old Balara Facebook page, the fatal accident took place at 12:33 a.m. last Saturday, March 14.

It can be seen in the CCTV footage that the victim got thrown up and landed several meters away from the point of impact.

The hit and run victim was identified by the page as Abdul Saminoding, said to be a young male sidewalk vendor. According to one Jamael Love Rohainah, the victim crossed the street just to buy something to eat.

Saminoding, whose parents are in the province, died on the spot and was already brought to his hometown, the netizen commented.

Meanwhile, the barangay's Facebook page described the car involved as a "Black Honda" with plate number "ALF 888." This information was not independently verified.

Some netizens who are familiar with the area said there's an overpass/footbridge nearby.

Social media users have been arguing on who was at fault - the victim or the driver?
