Summer Tips 101

Summer is coming and most of us are surely planning a vacation getaway. We should not forget, however, that the best thing about summer is being totally ready and well-protected against the heat and dehydration.

So, how do you ensure a stress-free and fun-filled summer experience?

Don’t Forget to Keep Extra-Hydrated

Don’t ever miss drinking water and re-hydrate those thirsty cells in your body.

An adult is actually required to drink at least 3 liters of water, but during summer, you must increase that up. For those who are weak in terms of their body immunity and functionality, one must drink at least 5 liters of water.

Don’t forget to always bring water wherever you go as dehydration is inevitable especially during the hot season.

You can add fun and good taste by adding some fruits like cucumber, mint, a slice of apple or berries in your water and refrigerate it for a more refreshing feel.

Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure

Avoiding skin cancer and skin irritation due to excessive sun exposure should be on top of your priorities.

One’s exposure to ultraviolet rays is very harmful because it’s the major cause of skin cancer, which is the most common type that has been diagnosed in the U.S.

As much as possible, limit your exposure under the sun between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the period of the day when the scorching heat of the sun is strongest.

Do not forget the shadow rule, if the shadow is shorter than you then the ray of the sun is at its strongest.

Use an umbrella when going out, stay under the shade or choose indoor activities for the kids in order to minimize sun exposure.

Become Skin-Protective

Make sure to apply an ample amount of water resistant sunscreen at least 30 minutes before going out. Do not forget to re-apply sunscreen every 30 minutes when you are swimming or even when you are sweating.

Protect your lips by applying a lip balm containing sunscreen with SPF of 30.

Dress it out Comfortably

Choose a lightweight, breathable outfit when going out to avoid exhaustion and excessive sweating due to heat.

You can tuck all the comforters and jackets in your closet and bring out those colorful summer outfits with matching wide-brimmed hats and cool sunglasses.

Plan Activities Ahead

Since school is usually over, people need some get away to relax from a stressful work schedule. Make sure to lay out the plan for the activities during your summer vacation.

Include family members and friends to maximize the fun and for bonding purposes to keep relationship ties stronger. You can have indoor activities for the older ones and outdoor games for children.
