One Direction fans: Stop the drug test for 1D in PH

One Direction fans are united in saying that members of the all-boy group need not undergo a drug test ahead of their concert in the Philippines.

What’s the point? - They asked.

Well, it seems the famous London-based English-Irish pop boy band is not yet over with the drug testing issue that has become a trending topic since last year.

Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are set to visit Manila for their On the Road Again Tour on March 21 and 22 at Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Their excited die-hard followers anticipate that the 2-night show will run smoothly.

It can be recalled that the drug testing issue sprouted last year after UK-based Daily Mail newspaper released a video showing Zayn and Louis smoking an alleged joint of marijuana. The incident was filmed in the back of the car by the latter while the boys were on a trip to Peru for their Where We Are Tour. The two apologized later for their actions.

However, the Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino, an anti-drugs advocacy group, demanded that a drug test must be done first before the band can hold a concert here. According to the group’s president, Ferdinand Magisa, they already had a discussion with the Bureau of Immigration and were asked to submit a formal request.

The advocacy group, who told news providers in mid-2014 that they wanted the 1D show cancelled, appealed that as soon as the boy band arrives at NAIA, a drug test should be undertaken in front of them and with the presence of media. In addition, they said the organizer must also allow constant monitoring of the five-member boy band while staying in the country to make sure they won't have a chance to perform under the influence of drugs.

The advocacy group has been very serious about this, saying they are doing everything to protect the young Filipino generation. They also wanted to seek from 1D “respect and consideration” by abiding the country's policies against illegal drugs.

If you are to be asked, is testing One Direction for drugs necessary? Will it encourage the youth to stay away from drugs?
