Elementary teacher arrested for molesting student

A 30-year-old elementary teacher has been arrested by police for allegedly molesting his eight-year-old student Monday night in Quezon City.

Police Officer 1 Rose Yumul, the investigator handling the case, told The Philippine Star that the suspect, Lester de Guzman, invited the boy to his house in Project 6 past 7 p.m. last Sunday, March 22.

The grade three teacher began molesting the boy after he told him to undress.

The victim revealed his ordeal to his mother, who immediately reported the incident to barangay officials and the Masambong police station.

De Guzman was detained and charged with child abuse or exploitation before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office, PhilStar.com reported.

The case investigator said it is not the first time that the teacher was accused of a similar offense.

According to PO2 Armalyn Lomasang of the Masambong police station women’s desk, De Guzman is suspected of molesting two other children whose parents have not yet filed a formal complaint.

Allegedly, the suspect strips off his clothes and dances in front of a group of teenage boys whenever he gets drunk.

The victim's parents should file a separate complaint at the Department of Education (DepEd) so that De Guzman would be slapped with a preventive suspension while the case is ongoing.

If proven guilty, the teacher must be fired from his job and suffer in jail.
