A report on The Daily Guardian identified the suspect as Charlie Ocate Delicano, who had been suffering from a nervous breakdown.

According to the news site, Delicano allegedly used a bolo to hack his 65-year-old mother, Amanda, and nephew Ronnie, 4. He also attacked his nieces Hanacer, 9, and Rezalene, 3, at around 3 a.m. last December 25 in Barangay Caidquid of said town.

Neighbors rushed the victims to the local district hospital. However, Amanda and Ronnie died due to blood loss. The survivors were referred to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City, GMA News reported.

The suspect was arrested and is currently detained at the Mambusao Police Station.

On Christmas eve, Delicano reportedly asked for a Christmas gift and received nothing so he just slept calmly. He woke up at 12:15 a.m. and became violent while everyone was sleeping.

Senior Superintendent Ulysses Caton, Capiz police chief, told The Freeman that the family decided to press parricide, murder, and double frustrated murder charges against the suspect.
