A photo of a lifeless boy, who was allegedly killed by his stepmother whom neighbors called "wicked," made rounds on social media recently.
The photo was posted on Facebook last Thursday, December 11, together with unverified details about the incident, which took place in Barangay Malingao in the municipality of Tubod, province of Lanao del Norte.
Lance Gabriel, 4, was allegedly tortured by his stepmom by choking him and pouring boiled water onto his body, said the Facebook source, a resident in said town, who requested anonimity.
The suspect, identified in the post as Beth Manigos, apparently went into hiding after the boy was found dead early Sunday morning, December 7. The alleged crime is now under police investigation.
The victim's body was reportedly brought to Cagayan de Oro City for autopsy before he was laid to rest in Baroy, same province, over the weekend.
According to the source, there was a time when the boy was abused and thrown by his stepmom's brother and mother into a pit with his 6-year-old brother.
Allegedly, the suspect called the boy's father, Julius Andoy, who works in Cebu City, and threatened that she would kill their other younger baby and commit suicide after.
The child's biological mother lives in Manila, the source added.
