Bagyong Ruby News: December 7, 2014 Update

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the weather agency said Typhoon Ruby has slightly weakened and is now in the vicinity of Catbalogan City, Samar.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, its eye was spotted in the vicinity of Calbayog City or at 40 kilometers Northwest of Catbalogan City, Samar with maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.
  • Expected Second landfall: This morning in the vicinity of Masbate and it will be associated with strong winds, storm surge (up to 3 meters) and heavy to torrential rainfall.
  • Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – >30 mm per hour (heavy – torrential) within the 500 km diameter of the typhoon.
  • Bagyong Ruby and the Northeast Monsoon will bring rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas and over the northern seaboard of Mindanao. Fisherfolks and those using small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards.
  • Expected to Exit PAR: Wednesday early morning.

Forecast:

Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon and the provinces of Romblon, Mindoro and Marinduque will experience stormy weather while metro manila and the provinces of Pampanga, Bulacan, Dinagat and Surigao del Norte including the Island of Siargao will have rains with gusty winds with moderate to rough seas. The rest of the country will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to north will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of Mindanao with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA added.
