An altercation between a female street kid and a male security guard in a mall Sunday night was caught on video that's making rounds on Facebook.
A certain Lyka Gonzales, who posted the video on November 16, said the incident took place around 9 p.m. at The Block in SM City North Edsa in Quezon City.
According to the uploader, the security guards were trying to drive a group of children away as they were blocking customers while asking for alms in front of the mall's entrance and exit doors.
One of the street kids got angry and cursed the security guard. When he went back to his post, the girl followed him and suddenly became violent, hitting anything that gets in her way.
One of the girl's companions, who are apparently young beggars and Sampaguita vendors, challenged the security guard to a fight and even threw a metallic object that hit the back of his head. The security guard kept his cool.
What happened next were unknown.
Naturally, netizens criticised government agencies, the social welfare department among others, for failing to efficiently implement measures that can minimize if not eradicate problems involving street children.
