In its 24-hour public weather forecast and bulletin issued at 5 a.m., the weather agency said that as of 4 a.m., the eye of Super Typhoon Ompong was spotted at 1,161 kilometers East of Tuguegarao City with maximum winds of 215 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph.

It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph and expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday or Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ is affecting Mindanao, state forecasters said.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, ARMM and SOCCSKSARGEN will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms while Cagayan Valley, CAR and the provinces of Ilocos and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest to West with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA added.
