Interception of Fleeing Hit and Run Suspect Caught On Video

The following video shows police interception of a fleeing hit and run suspect who side swept a school staff Tuesday afternoon in Davao City.




Frank Villaroman, chief of Davao's Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), posted the details of the incident on Facebook.

He said that at about 2:58 p.m., a Central 911 operator received a call of a hit and run case involving a motorcycle rider and a lady faculty member of Holy Cross College in Sta. Ana Avenue. The suspect side swept the victim in front of the said school and escaped. A flash alarm was hoisted to all police units.

Villaroman said elements of Task Force Davao, Traffic Management Center personnel and PSSCC-TOC CCTV operators were tasked to locate and intercept the fleeing suspect. He was spotted by CCTV operators cruising along corner J.P. Laurel Avenue and corner Garcia Heights road and was subsequently monitored and followed using other CCTV cameras along the roads he expected to pass.

The subject's whereabouts was reported by an IOC personnel to the nearest Davao City Police Office-Mobile Patrol Group operating in the nearby area. He was finally intercepted at the vicinity of the SSS building along J.P. Laurel Avenue and brought to Sta. Ana Police Station for booking and appropriate filing of a criminal offense, Villaroman added.
