Terror Alert In Davao After GenSan Bomb Explosion

The Davao City Police Office issued a terror alert following a bomb explosion in General Santos on Tuesday night, September 16.

In a Facebook status update, the DCPO said the bombing incident occured at 8:30 p.m. infront of the City Hall in Gensan. Casualties have been reported.

"Everyone is reminded to be on alert. Please report suspicious looking persons and left-behind baggages to our text hotline 09258233276," the post read.

Facebook user Edwin Degala Plaza posted the names of persons who suffered minor injuries during the blast, as follows:
  1. Sarah Alquiisa, 18 years old from Labangal
  2. Marlon Fajada, 23, from Santo Niño, South Cotabato
  3. James Abrera
  4. Christian Paul Aminong, 20, from Soriano Subd.,City Heights
Plaza said the victims were rushed to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in GenSan. In a follow-up post, he said one of the afore-named persons already passed away.

According to reports, an investigation on the GenSan bombing incident is underway.


The blast was caused by an improvised explosive device which was planted near the Jose Rizal monument, authorities say.

The local office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) reported that 7 were hurt from the explosion.

Five of those injured were brought to St. Elizabeth Hospital and two at the General Santos District Hospital.
