Darren Espanto, the 12-year-old Calgary singer, will become the first The Voice Kids Philippines champion if he picks the right song.

He should perform a contest piece that fits his vocal range.

During the show's Top 6 semi-finals held at Resorts World Manila last Saturday, July 19, Darren belted out the Whitney Houston hit "One Moment In Time."

It was noticed that the teenager had gone slightly off-key with some low notes at the beginning of the song, although he nailed it as he went on with the performance.

Darren Espanto wowed the crowd, coaches, and viewers during the Performance Night and eventually earned a slot in the Top 4 after the results were announced Sunday night, July 20.

It was actually a no-brainer considering that he is already a contest veteran with a huge following being a finalist in the fifth season of the Canadian reality show "The Next Star."

However, it is believed that there will be a tight race between him and his teammate Lyca Gairanod, who has a 'masa' appeal, in The Voice Kids grand finals that will take place this weekend.

A wrong choice of song could cost Darren Espanto the title.
