A YouTube video titled “LTO Chief CASINO QUEEN,” which was uploaded by a certain “juan dela cruz,” caught media and netizens’ attention this week.

According to ABS-CBN News, Torres admitted that she played on a slot machine “out of curiosity” after having dinner with a friend.

“Yes, I remember having dinner with a friend in a hotel. While waiting for the bill to be settled, I saw the slot machine on the lower floor and out of curiosity, I sat in front of one machine and marveled at the lights and read the instructions,” the LTO chief said in the interview. “I immediately left when the bill was paid. This happened way back.”

In 2001, MalacaƱang issued memorandum circular number 8 prohibiting government personnel “from entering, staying and/or playing at gambling casinos.”

The Civil Service Commission reportedly said Torres could be suspended for up to 6 months if she is found guilty of violating the policy, the report said.

Meanwhile, transportation secretary Joseph Abaya said Thursday his office will “investigate and eventually render a report to MalacaƱang,” reports Inquirer.net.

Torres is known to have close ties with the President.
