Cotabato blast leaves 5 dead, dozens injured

The Cotabato blast that occured at Sinsuat Avenue on Monday, August 5, has left at least five people dead and dozens others injured.

Authorities said the explosion happened at around 4:40 pm along a very busy street in Cotabato City.

Local reports said the blast was caused by a bomb attached to a parked motorcycle.

Five were confirmed dead, but there have been unverified reports that the number of falities reached 7. More than twenty persons have been reported injured.

Investigators are looking into reports that the bomb was intended for the convoy of two government officials who usually pass by the highway near the blast site around that time.
