USA advances to 2012 Olympic men’s basketball finals

As expected, the United States routed Argentina, 109-83, in the semis Friday night to advance to Sunday’s gold medal game of the 2012 Olympic men’s basketball.

Team USA made 18 of its 42 three-point shots to finish off Argentina.

Kevin Durant scored 19 on a 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, Carmelo Anthony was 4-of-8 from the 3-point line for a total of 18 points.

LeBron James contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. Deron Williams also did 6 assists.

Kobe Bryant tallied 13 points and Chris Paul had 10 points and 7 assists. Kevin Love, who scored nine points, dominated the rebounding area with 9.

USA will meet Spain at 3 p.m. (10 a.m. EDT) on Sunday, August 12, for the gold medal match.

Argentina will play against Russia in the bronze medal game at 11 a.m. (6 a.m. EDT).
