The floods caused by heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by a Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Luzon have prompted local government units in the National Capital Region (NCR) and several provinces in Luzon to suspend classes and work in public offices.
State weather bureau PAGASA issued a RED WARNING SIGNAL at 9:00 AM on August 7, for Metro Manila.
PAGASA reported that heavy to torrential rainfall (16-40 millimeters per hour) was observed over the metro for the past two hours. Heavy to intense (15-30mm/hr) rainfall with occasional torrential (>30mm/hr) is expected in the next 2 hours.
The weather agency urged residents in high risk areas to take precautionary measures and to watch out for the next warning.
