Megaupload Shutdown The Reason Why FileSonic Disabled Service?

Megaupload.com, one of the world’s largest file-sharing sites, has been seized. Its founder and company executives were arrested and charged with violations of piracy laws.

Megaupload Shutdown
Megaupload is considered a “cyberlocker” or an online file storage provider that allows uploading, hosting and downloading of video, image, audio, document and software files.

According to Techland at Time.com, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) “estimated that the vast majority of content being shared on Megaupload was in violation of copyright laws.”

Other web sources say authorities have gathered evidence and were able to prove that MU’s “employees and executives are personally guilty of copyright infringement” and that the feds “intercepted chat logs between employees talking about how they took advantage of uploaders’ content to download pirated TV and movie content for personal use.”

Megaupload.com founder Kim Dotcom and three others were arrested last week in New Zealand, the U.S. Justice Department said in a statement.

Was the Megaupload shutdown the reason why FileSonic, the “unlimited storage company,” disabled all its sharing functionality? It most certainly is.

The website now has a notification that says its service “can only be used to upload and retrieve files” that are “uploaded personally.”

Several users revealed that login attempts “returned errors” while others complained that their accounts were “deleted” for violaton of the site’s terms of service, recent reports say.

Will other file hosting websites like MediaFire, Hotfile and RapidShare follow suit?
