Kirk Douglas, Oldest Celebrity Blogger, Turns 95

Award-winning American stage and film actor, film producer and author Kirk Douglas is turning 95 on Friday, December 9.

Kirk DouglasBorn in Amsterdam, New York in 1916, Douglas is the son of Bertha and Harry Danielovitch, both Jewish immigrants.

He was a major box office star in the 50s to 60s era. His popular films include “Out of the Past” (1947), “Champion” (1949), “Ace in the Hole” (1951), “The Bad and the Beautiful” (1952), “Lust for Life” (1956), “Paths of Glory” (1957), “Spartacus” (1960), and Lonely Are the Brave (1962).

Douglas married twice. On November 2, 1943 he settled down with Diana Dill whom he had two sons, actor Michael Douglas and producer Joel Douglas. They divorced in 1951.

On May 29, 1954, Douglas married Anne Buydens whom he had two sons, producer Peter Douglas and actor Eric Douglas, who succumbed to drug overdose in 2004.

Douglas is listed as one of the “greatest male American screen legends of all time” by the American Film Institute. In 1996, he received the Academy Honorary Award “for 50 years as a creative and moral force in the motion picture community.”

He is also the oldest celebrity blogger at 95. Sources say he blogs regularly on his Myspace account.
