How to disable (turn off) Windows 7 automatic updates
Here's a simple guide to turn off or disable automatic updates in Windows 7.
Do this procedure just in case you do not want to download updates for Windows 7 automatically. We, however, do not recommend turning it off as getting software updates will improve system performance and security.
The steps:
1. Click the Windows 7 Orb (Start Menu).
2. Go to Control Panel and select System Security.
3. Under the 'Windows Update' link, click 'Turn automatic updating on or off'.
4. Under 'Important Updates', click the dropdown box.
5. Choose 'Never check for updates (not recommended).
6. Click OK and exit.
